Our undergraduate students won the grand prize at the Student English Presentation Contest 2019

On 15 December 2019, a team of our undergraduate students, Golden Phoenix, won the grand prize at the Student English Presentation Contest organized by the Consortium of Universities in Osaka. Eighteen teams from 10 universities in Osaka Prefecture participated in this contest and gave presentations on the internationalization of Osaka.
The team Golden Phoenix consists of two members, Mr. ALIZADEH KASHITIBAN EHSAN and Mr. Kouichirou YASUDA, 1st-year-students of the Department of Physics, School of Science. Their presentation title was “Osaka: Asian Pole Star”, which was highly praised by the audiences.

“After a class, my friend Ehsan asked me about participating in the contest together. That inspired me to look into various materials about the topic, and we could get an idea of interesting presentation contents. Thinking of winning the contest was excited, so that we decided to take part in the contest. Intending to win the contest, we did our best to improve our presentation until just before the contest and went on with a spirit of “Go for it!”.
At the contest, we tried to explain the following points;
1) Cooperation among industry, university, and government. This is the point that Osaka University has emphasized since the school foundation.
2) How university students can contribute to the internationalization in Osaka.
The winning team will be supported to participate in the international forum, Asia Pacific Student Services Associations, which will be held overseas in the summer of 2020. I will try to communicate actively in English with the participants from various Asia-Pacific regions while enjoying sightseeing, taking into consideration the engagement in research activities overseas in the future.” YASUDA said.
